The Blood of Dawnwalker Quests and Quest Order Guide

The Blood of Dawnwalker quest hub covers quest order, prologue priorities, Court Activities, companion routes, time costs, and stuck-quest checks.

Quick route

Quick answer

The Blood of Dawnwalker does not require one universal quest order. Use the 30-day clock, day/night access, companion prerequisites, and visible time costs to decide what to do next, while keeping manual saves before expensive or route-changing steps.

For a practical first run, finish the prologue cleanly, build enough strength to tackle the three major Court Activity targets, advance the companion routes you care about, and preserve a save before the final quest so major ending choices remain recoverable.

Updated September 11, 2026. This hub separates verified launch information from route advice and avoids invented values.

How quest order works

The Blood of Dawnwalker is built around a limited story window rather than a single mandatory quest path. Free exploration does not normally advance the campaign clock, while major quest actions and other clearly marked commitments can consume story time. That makes a rigid numbered walkthrough less useful than a route that protects saves, checks time costs, and keeps important companion or ending branches available.

For a first playthrough, use three rules:

  1. Check the clock cost before committing to a major objective.
  2. Keep rotating manual saves before named choices and quest finales.
  3. If a route appears blocked, verify the required time of day, prerequisite quest, and current game version before assuming the quest is broken.

See the 30-Day Time System for the clock rules and the Beginner Guide for first-run planning.

Prologue priorities

The prologue teaches the systems that matter later: directional combat, time costs, investigation, day/night access, and the value of preserving multiple saves. Launch walkthroughs identify optional and main objectives around Laslea, including Withering Away, Deep Down, Disturbed, and On the Run among the early quest set.

The exact order is flexible, but it is worth finishing urgent family and rescue objectives before spending story time on lower-priority detours. If you want a more detailed opening route, use the Prologue Walkthrough.

What to do after the prologue

Once Vale Sangora opens, stop thinking in terms of clearing every map marker. The stronger route is to combine progression with the areas and systems you already need.

A practical structure is:

  • Advance major Court Activities while exploring nearby objectives.
  • Develop the skill paths that support the fights you are actually taking.
  • Progress companion questlines before their route-dependent choices matter.
  • Revisit earlier areas when new clues or activities appear.
  • Preserve enough campaign time for the final stretch instead of spending segments just because an activity is available.

The three major Court Activity targets commonly identified in launch completion routes are Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe. Their content feeds into the broader route toward Brencis and the final quest.

Companion quests and route planning

Companion content can overlap with romance, story choices, and ending preparation. If a companion matters to your run, do not leave the whole chain until the final days.

Existing site guides cover Anca, Lacra, and the broader Romance Guide. Keep a save before the end of a companion chain, especially when a conversation or action looks like a route lock.

Optional white dialogue can reveal later choices, so rushing through every conversation can remove useful context even when it does not immediately appear to change a stat.

Quest order for a safer first playthrough

There is no verified universal “best” order for every build and choice route, but this sequence is a safe planning framework:

  1. Finish urgent prologue objectives and learn the clock system.
  2. Open the world and scout routes without wasting story time.
  3. Improve one reliable combat loop instead of spreading upgrades too thin.
  4. Start major Court Activity progression.
  5. Advance the companion routes you care about before their late-game branches.
  6. Keep a campaign checkpoint before the final phase.
  7. Complete final-route choices only after you are comfortable with your save state.

This approach is intentionally flexible. The game’s nonlinear structure rewards adapting to your own day/night access, unlocked abilities, and consequences.

If a quest is stuck

Before reloading an old save, check:

  • Is the objective restricted to day or night?
  • Is another quest or dialogue step required first?
  • Did the game display a time cost that changed the current segment?
  • Is an NPC missing because of an older quest state?
  • Are you on the latest patch available for your platform?

Hotfix 1.0.4 specifically fixed several quest blockers, including issues in Deep Down, Hive and Seek, On the Run, and The Heart Wants What It Wants, plus a case where Murohn could fail to spawn. See the Patch Notes before relying on an old workaround.

Preparing for the final quest

Launch completion guides recommend preserving a manual save before the final quest because multiple endings can branch from late choices. If you are pursuing specific companion-dependent outcomes, finish those questlines before committing to the finale.

Also avoid treating the 30-day rescue window as unlimited. The game does not simply stop when the counter expires, but the family objective can suffer consequences. For ending planning, continue with the All Endings Guide and Choices & Consequences.
