The Blood of Dawnwalker On the Run Walkthrough

On the Run walkthrough for The Blood of Dawnwalker: track the pig, deal with Kuno, check rewards and prologue cutoff, plus the Hotfix 1.0.4 loading fix.

Verified answer

Quick answer

On the Run is a missable Laslea Glen prologue side quest from Iorgu after All Good Things. Track the escaped pig from the bridge, deal with Kuno, chase the pig toward the ruined house, then return it to Iorgu before Sacred Covenant.

PowerPyx lists 250 XP and 50 Denarius, with 4 Sausages if you help with the slaughter. Hotfix 1.0.4 fixed the infinite-loading bug tied to quest progression. Because current guides conflict on the exact time cost, use the clock prompt in your own build as the authority.

Evidence checked September 12, 2026. Hotfix 1.0.4 officially fixed the infinite-loading issue while progressing On the Run. Current walkthroughs disagree on whether the quest costs one or two time blocks, so the page defers to the in-game clock prompt.

On the Run quick route

On the Run is a missable prologue side quest in Laslea Glen. Talk to Iorgu after completing All Good Things, track his escaped pig from the bridge with Focus Mode, deal with Kuno, chase the pig, then return it to Iorgu before Sacred Covenant closes out the prologue side content.

A safe route is:

  1. Talk to Iorgu at his house.
  2. Check the bridge and use Focus Mode to find the pig tracks.
  3. Pick up apples from the nearby tree before following the trail.
  4. Follow the tracks to Kuno's camp.
  5. Resolve the confrontation with Kuno.
  6. Chase the pig toward the ruined house.
  7. Use an apple to make the final catch easier, or catch the pig manually.
  8. Return to Iorgu and decide whether to help with the slaughter.

If you are trying to clear the prologue efficiently, pair this with Deep Down, the Prologue Walkthrough, and the broader Best Quest Order.

How to start On the Run

The quest begins at Iorgu's house in Laslea Glen after All Good Things. Iorgu tells Coen that his pig escaped by digging under the fence and asks him to bring it back.

Current walkthroughs mark the quest as missable and recommend completing it before Sacred Covenant. That puts it in the same practical category as the other prologue side quests: if you care about the rewards or want to clear the opening area thoroughly, finish it before the story moves on.

If you already found Kuno while exploring before speaking to Iorgu, some walkthroughs note that the quest can skip directly toward the recovery step because Coen already knows where the pig ended up.

Find the pig tracks by the bridge

From Iorgu's house, head toward the nearby bridge. Use Focus Mode on the far side to find the pig's cloven hoofprints.

Before following the trail, check the apple tree near the bridge. Picking up an apple here is useful because it gives you a much easier option during the final chase. The quest can still be completed without one, but having an apple avoids turning the last part into a longer catch sequence.

Follow the hoofprints along the riverbank until they lead you to Kuno's camp.

Kuno choice: fight or avoid the fight

Kuno has the pig and refuses to simply hand it over. The current PowerPyx walkthrough documents two direct responses:

  • "I do" — Coen stands his ground and must fight Kuno. The pig then runs off.
  • "Knyaz Brencis does" — Kuno cuts the pig to make it run, allowing Coen to continue without fighting him.

Both routes move the quest forward. The important point for a first playthrough is that this is a route choice rather than a hidden failure state.

If you are preserving health and supplies for the remaining prologue content, the no-fight route is the lower-friction option. If you prefer the confrontation, the fight route still progresses normally.

Follow and catch the pig

After leaving Kuno's camp, follow the pig through the woods. The chase leads toward the ruined house associated with Enter Not.

If you brought an apple, approach the pig and use it when the interaction appears. This resolves the recovery cleanly and moves Coen back toward Iorgu.

Without an apple, keep chasing the pig and interact when you get close enough to catch it manually. The apple is a convenience, not a hard requirement.

This is one of the reasons it is worth collecting the fruit by the bridge before committing to the trail: it turns the most awkward part of the quest into a short interaction.

Return the pig to Iorgu

Once the pig is recovered, the quest returns Coen to Iorgu. At that point you learn what Iorgu intends to do with the animal.

The checked PowerPyx route lists the standard reward as:

  • 250 XP
  • 50 Denarius

If you agree to help Iorgu with the slaughter, the same walkthrough also records 4 Sausages as an additional item reward.

The core XP and Denarius reward does not depend on helping with the slaughter in that walkthrough, so this final choice is more about role-play and the bonus food than about preserving quest completion.

How much time does On the Run cost?

Current third-party walkthroughs disagree on the exact time cost.

PowerPyx and NightlyGamingBinge list 1 time segment, while some other current launch guides describe 2 time blocks across the confrontation and chase.

Because those sources conflict, this guide does not present one number as universally verified. Use the clock/time-cost prompt shown by your current game build as the final authority before committing to the quest.

What is consistent across the guides is that On the Run belongs to the time-sensitive prologue set and should be completed before the prologue closes if you want its rewards and outcome.

For the wider timing system, use the 30-Day Time System.

On the Run infinite loading fix

This quest had a confirmed launch-window progression problem.

Hotfix 1.0.4, released September 9, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, states that progressing On the Run no longer causes infinite loading.

If your game hangs while advancing this quest:

  1. Confirm that your platform has Hotfix 1.0.4 or newer installed.
  2. Fully restart the game after updating.
  3. Reload a save from before the transition that caused the infinite load.
  4. Retry the quest on the patched build before using older workarounds.

This is preferable to following launch-day advice that was written before the official fix. See the Patch Notes for the rest of the progression fixes in the same update.

Should you do On the Run before leaving the prologue?

Yes, if you want to clear the prologue side content. The quest is short, gives XP and Denarius, and is listed by current walkthroughs as needing completion before Sacred Covenant.

A practical prologue approach is to group it with nearby optional quests instead of repeatedly crossing the area. Deep Down is another missable early quest, while the Best Quest Order explains how to protect the opening content before moving into the open world.

The main thing to avoid is reaching the prologue cutoff while assuming these side quests will remain available later.
