Quick answer
Max Bakir’s Anger through Court Activities, meet Farkas outside Lunar Manor, enter The Lunar Game in the afternoon, use the maze to rebuild a combat loadout, and keep your identity hidden long enough to isolate Bakir in the treasure room. This avoids fighting his full support group at the same time.
Against Bakir, defend his close-range punches and side-dodge the unblockable blood-line and bird volleys. Draining him unlocks Shadowstorm; killing him lets you loot Bakir’s Armour from his body. The current walkthrough lists 500 XP and six time segments for the quest.
Evidence checked September 12, 2026. The Lunar Game trigger, maze restrictions, contestant setup, Bakir attack patterns, 500 XP reward, Bakir’s Armour, and Shadowstorm drain reward are checked against the current PowerPyx walkthrough. The level-20-plus label is treated as third-party route advice, not an official gate.

How to unlock Bakir
Bakir’s boss quest is The Lunar Game. It does not appear because Coen reaches a specific level. The reliable trigger is to keep disrupting Bakir’s operations through Court Activities until his Anger reaches maximum. After that, Farkas approaches Coen and points him toward Lunar Manor.
PowerPyx recommends tackling Bakir after Ambrus and before Xanthe, and labels this part of its route for roughly level 20+. Treat that as a walkthrough recommendation, not a hard level gate. The game’s Court structure is nonlinear, so preparation, skills, equipment, and difficulty matter more than copying one number.
If you have not dealt with Ambrus yet, see the Ambrus Boss Guide. For the wider progression route, use the Boss Hub.
Before entering The Lunar Game
Make a manual save before committing to Lunar Manor. The quest itself is more than a single arena fight: it includes waiting for the event, optional social setup, a stripped-down maze section, and then the confrontation with Bakir.
The checked walkthrough lists 6 time segments for the full quest. Because time is one of the game’s main resources, finish any nearby training or errands you care about before you deliberately spend the afternoon waiting for the event.
Useful preparation:
- bring a Swordmastery setup you can use without relying on Vampirism;
- be comfortable with directional defense and ordinary weapon combat;
- avoid entering with your only recent manual save already overwritten;
- leave enough campaign time for Xanthe and the finale afterward;
- remember that the maze temporarily limits your normal vampiric toolkit.
The Best Early Skills page gives a low-risk Swordmastery foundation if your current build is too dependent on one form.
Meet Farkas in the afternoon
After Bakir’s Anger is maxed, Farkas eventually contacts you. Meet him outside Lunar Manor.
The competition begins in the afternoon. The game can let you wait forward to the correct time, but doing useful activities beforehand is usually better than spending story time only to skip ahead.
Once inside the grounds, you get several time segments before the game begins. You can use this window to talk to contestants and interfere with them.
Optional setup: talk to the contestants
Talking to the other contestants is not mandatory, but it can change how the maze feels.
The most practical example is The Porcupine. If you speak to him before the competition, he can later choose not to fight you in the maze. If you skip the conversation, expect the encounter to turn into combat.
Do not spend segments on every conversation just because the option exists. Treat this phase like any other time-cost decision: use it when the information or outcome helps your route.
Optional setup: poison the liquor
You can collect leaves from the bushes around the staging area and use them to poison a drink near The Cockroach.
If you do this, the later maze encounter with The Cockroach becomes much easier because he can be incapacitated before the fight begins.
This is an efficiency option rather than a requirement for defeating Bakir. If you are already confident in the maze combat, you can preserve your setup time for something else.
Do not start the Bakir fight too early
During Bakir’s pre-game speech, the dialogue can let you expose yourself and attack immediately.
That is the dangerous route. If you force the confrontation here, you skip the intended maze progression and fight with very limited equipment. The maze is where the quest gives you opportunities to rebuild a usable loadout.
For a first playthrough, do not rush the early confrontation unless you deliberately want the harder version of the fight.
Lunar Game maze walkthrough
Despite the name, the maze is mostly a linear combat route with a few decisions and loot opportunities.
The important restriction is that Coen is trying to hide his identity, so normal Vampiric Abilities are not available through this section. That makes Swordmastery preparation much more valuable than a build that only works through night powers.
Progress through the maze slowly:
- Loot usable equipment as you move.
- Clear enemies before pushing deeper.
- Use available rats to recover health when the route gives you the opportunity.
- Resolve The Porcupine encounter according to your earlier conversation.
- Handle the trap-box riddle correctly.
- Deal with The Cockroach, who is much easier if the liquor was poisoned.
- Continue to the coin objective and final audience with Bakir.
On higher difficulty, save after meaningful progress so a late death does not force you to replay the whole sequence.
Trap-box answer
The trap box has a written riddle. The safe choice in the checked walkthrough is the left hole.
Choosing correctly avoids taking unnecessary damage before the later fights. This is a small detail, but it matters because you enter the boss section after a resource-draining challenge rather than from a clean rest point.
How to isolate Bakir in the treasure room
After winning the Lunar Game, dialogue determines whether you end up fighting Bakir alone or dealing with his support first.
The safer route is to keep the mask on, play along with his celebration, and keep steering the conversation toward receiving the reward instead of revealing yourself immediately.
If you have left another contestant alive, an additional line about Bakir possibly wanting to eat them later can help preserve that route.
The goal is simple: get Bakir into the treasure room without turning the entire gathering hostile first.
You do not need to memorize every white dialogue option. The key is to avoid prematurely exposing Coen and to keep Bakir comfortable until you reach the private room.
What happens if you fight in the courtyard
If you expose yourself before isolating Bakir, you fight his group as well as Bakir.
The support force includes normal soldiers and a witch-type miniboss. This version is much harder because the real problem becomes target management: multiple enemies can interrupt your defense while Bakir throws ranged attacks from outside sword distance.
If you end up here anyway:
- clear the ordinary enemies first;
- do not chase Bakir while surrounded;
- keep enough stamina for side dodges;
- reset the arena instead of forcing damage through incoming projectiles.
Isolating Bakir removes most of that noise and is the cleaner first-playthrough route.
Bakir boss fight: attack patterns
Bakir’s actual moveset is simpler than the quest leading up to him. The checked walkthrough describes three practical threats: close-range punches, blood-line projectiles, and a bird projectile sequence.
Fist attacks
At close range, Bakir fights with his fists. Treat these like readable duel attacks: defend first, then punish when the string ends rather than mashing into his animation.
A Swordmastery setup with stamina, Perfect Block, and a reliable counter gives you a safer rhythm than trying to burst him before you understand the cadence.
Blood-line projectiles
Bakir can send multiple lines of blood outward toward Coen.
These are unblockable ranged attacks. The reliable answer is lateral movement: watch the line, dodge sideways, and wait for the sequence to finish before re-entering melee range.
Do not dodge directly backward if the line is still tracking down the lane toward you. Side movement creates more room.
Bird projectiles
Bakir can also release a sequence of birds toward Coen.
Back off, keep the projectiles in view, and dodge laterally as they arrive. The mistake is rushing him while the volley is still active and getting caught mid-attack.
Unlike Ambrus, the checked walkthrough does not describe a dramatic new late-fight phase. Bakir continues rotating these tools rather than suddenly switching to a completely different moveset.
Simple Bakir strategy
For a safe first clear:
- Isolate him in the treasure room if possible.
- Stay close enough that you can punish his fists, but not so committed that you cannot react to a ranged cue.
- Defend normal melee strings and counter after the sequence ends.
- Side-dodge the blood lines.
- Back off and side-dodge through the bird volley.
- Re-enter only after the ranged sequence has clearly ended.
- Keep stamina in reserve instead of spending the entire bar on offense.
The fight is more about discipline and positioning than about discovering a secret elemental weakness. No fixed HP, frost weakness, poise value, or mandatory weapon type is used here because the reliable launch walkthroughs do not support those numbers as universal facts.
Kill or drain Bakir
After winning, you choose whether to kill Bakir outright or drain his blood.
Drain Bakir
Draining Bakir unlocks the Shadowstorm Vampiric Ability.
Choose this route if the Vampirism reward fits your build and you are comfortable with the role-play and Corruption consequences attached to feeding on major vampires.
Kill Bakir
Killing him avoids taking his blood ability. The checked walkthrough records Bakir’s Armour, a Legendary Medium Chestplate, as loot from his body when you kill him outright and loot the corpse.
If the fight happened in the courtyard, Farkas can immediately move Coen into the treasure-room sequence afterward. In that case, remember to go back out and loot Bakir’s body before leaving the area.
The quest itself also awards 500 XP according to the current walkthrough.
Is Bakir’s Armour missable?
It can be easy to leave behind if the post-fight sequence moves you away from the corpse.
Before leaving Lunar Manor, check Bakir’s body if your route allows it. Do not assume the reward was automatically placed in your inventory just because the quest advanced.
Does Bakir have a fixed recommended level?
PowerPyx places Bakir in its level 20+ route and recommends the broader order Ambrus → Bakir → Xanthe. That is useful planning information, but it is not presented here as an official level lock.
A player with stronger equipment, better defensive timing, or a lower difficulty may comfortably fight earlier. Another player may want more Skill Points and manuals first.
Use the number as a route benchmark, not as a rule enforced by the game.
If The Lunar Game does not start
First check that Bakir’s Anger is actually maxed through Court Activities. Then confirm you have allowed the Farkas contact to occur and that you are following the journal to Lunar Manor at the correct time.
Do not assume an old forum workaround applies to your current version. Preserve the save before experimenting, and compare your platform version with the Patch Notes if a quest transition appears broken.
The current official Hotfix 1.0.4 notes do not identify a Bakir-specific fix, so this page does not invent one.
Where Bakir fits in the overall route
Bakir is one of the three major Court targets required before Brencis can be drawn into the final campaign stretch.
For a straightforward first playthrough, use:
- Ambrus
- Bakir
- Xanthe
- Brencis and the finale
Again, the order is a practical recommendation rather than a mandatory story gate. If your exploration naturally pushes Xanthe earlier, the game’s nonlinear structure allows you to adapt.
